Modernising works We expand and modernise the fuel tanks and dispensing systems owned by customers

We modernise and adapt tanks to changing customer needs - from small adjustments such as hose replacement to comprehensive retrofitting of the entire fuel station.

MODERNISING WORKS

The procedure is always similar:

  1. We talk with the customer about his needs and requirements. In most cases, modernisation of Fortis tanks concern the equipment we are familiar with – customers may provide photographs of a different installation.
  2. Case analysis:
  • if we are familiar with a problem or solution, we suggest the best way to proceed straight away,
  • if necessary, we meet the customer, go to the place of installation and carry out the required tests and inspections;
  1. Developing a solution and price quotation;
  2. Installing the suggested solution;
  3. The entire unit is tested for correct operation.

Most frequent modernisations:

- installing fuel dispensing management systems in tanks or fuel stations so that employees can fill up without the presence of a supervisor. Management systems may be attached to existing tanks using the fittings already in place. Alternatively, you can install brand new fittings;

- installing additional dispensers or fill points at existing stations; installing tank reels; installing a filling line;

- replacing pumps to upgrade their capacity.

We also modernise smaller consumable parts, e.g. change nozzles, replace filters, install longer hoses etc.

We use tried and trusted solutions. We are usually already experienced in the kind of modernisation the customer requests. We ensure full compatibility of suggested solutions with the fittings/tanks owned by the customer. We grant a 2-year guarantee for the installed equipment.

FAQ - READ ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Should tanks be grounded?
  • Tanks should be grounded in accordance with existing Polish regulations on aboveground tanks for the storage of liquid fuel.
Pump is noisy
  • Check if mechanical ball valves in the tank are open.
  • Check or replace the main filter in the tank.
  • Check and clean the strainer in the tank.
  • Check if mechanical ball valves in the tank are open.
  • In rare cases, the nozzle may become airlocked preventing the pump from sucking fuel. If this happens, unfasten the nozzle and try to vent the system without it.
  • Check or replace the main filter in the tank.
Dispenser does not dispense fuel
Pump cannot be activated:
  • Check whether the dispenser is connected to power;
  • Check whether the switch on the pump is set to “ON”.
  • If the tank is equipped with a system cutting off power supply to the pump when the fuel level is low, make sure the level is not minimal.
  • Check electrical connections, especially if the power cable connected to the pump is not damaged.
  • Contact FORTIS MAINTENANCE
The pump starts but the fuel does not flow:
  • Check the level of fuel in the tank:
  • Check if the sucking pipe in the tank lies on its bottom instead of handing above the fuel surface.
  • Check or replace the main filter in the tank.
  • Check if mechanical ball valves in the tank are open.
  • If the tank system was airlocked before the problem, check the condition of the pump vanes.
The pump does not suck the fuel automatically:
  • Check if mechanical ball valves in the tank are open.
  • In rare cases, the nozzle may become airlocked preventing the pump from sucking fuel. If this happens, unfasten the nozzle and try to vent the system without it.
  • Check or replace the main filter in the tank.
  • Check if mechanical ball valves in the tank are open.
  • In rare cases, the nozzle may become airlocked preventing the pump from sucking fuel. If this happens, unfasten the nozzle and try to vent the system without it.
  • Check or replace the main filter in the tank.
Dispenser dispenses fuel slowly
  • Check or replace the main filter in the tank. In the case of replacing a filter, check output right after venting the tank system. When a large amount of water is seriously contaminated or when paraffin precipitates in the fuel, filters may become clogged very quickly (even after 500 l of pumped fuel).
  • Clean the strainer on the sucking pipe in the tank.
  • Check whether mechanical ball valves are fully open (valve handle positioned along the axis).

Apollo Smart displays an error message
E01:
  • Was the equipment re-synchronised? If not, the equipment must be synchronised according to Fortis instructions (First Activation of Apollo Smart) If yes, move the display closer to the tank or even put it inside the fill point cabinet and see whether there is any change; synchronise the equipment. • If the unit is still not operational, replace the batteries in the transmitter under the main tank hatch and in the display unit showing the amount of fuel. Unscrew the transmitter from the tank and remove the screws at the bottom. Unfasten 4 screws at the back of the display unit. Replace the CR2450 battery in both units and synchronise Apollo.

The nozzle does not cut off
  • Check the condition of the nozzle. The nozzle is a delicate component and its failure is often caused by falls or mechanical damage. The nozzle is not covered by the guarantee.
  • The nozzle is dirty or mechanically damaged – clean the inside of the nozzle or replace it.
The nozzle cuts off all the time
  • Check the condition of the nozzle. The nozzle is a delicate component and its failure is often caused by falls or mechanical damage. The nozzle is not covered by the guarantee.
  • Clean the dispensing pipe in the nozzle. Clean the nozzle lock pipe delicately.
The nozzle leaks
  • Check the condition of the nozzle. The nozzle is a delicate component and its failure is often caused by falls or mechanical damage. The nozzle is not covered by the guarantee – it is recommended to replace it with a new one.
The counter displays the battery icon or nothing at all. What battery type should be replaced?
Depending on the type of counter:
  • Small K600 counter (white/red) – 2 items of LR1 1.5 V batteries (after unscrewing the silver cover on the bottom of the counter)
  • Large K600 counter (black) – 2 items of AA 1.5 V batteries (after unfastening 4 screws on the display unit)
K600 counter does not count
  • The current filling counter (large numbers) and TOTAL counter (adder, small numbers) do not count: please contact FORTIS MAINTENANCE
  • The TOTAL counter does not count (adder, small numbers): does the display show the TOTAL sign? If not and the display shows FLOW RATE: 0.0 – press FLOW RATE(on the big counter)/CALC (on the small counter) once; the counter will then switch into the TOTAL mode
